RollerCon Men's Scrimmage Announced!

Just finished talking to Rocky, who said I can post this here.

The following are the teams that will be playing in the men's scrimmage on Fremont St. If you're interested in playing but not on this list, email him ASAP - people are definitely going to cancel, so there may be a couple of extra slots.

He also has received some requests to put Justice and Johnny Pocket Rocket on opposing teams, so one of them may get swapped to the other group. We shall see!

I can't help but notice that none of PVRD's guys are on that list. Did we do something wrong? It's a matter of public record that we notified of our intent to play - both here on this forum and directly to the organizers of this scrimmage.

I'm probably beating a dead horse here, but was any of this info emailed directly to Rocky?

Rocky was -exclusively- responsible for putting together the folks interested in playing, and he uses these boards very rarely. I only know what I know because I've been bugging him over email about it on a regular basis.

I would get in touch with him directly, and not through the board. Chances are, anyone who didn't email him directly didn't get included. He said in his last email that people interested in doing this can still get in touch with him.

Joe, if you need his email, contact me off the boards and I'll give it to you directly. I would contact him and see why you aren't on the list, and if you can be added. I think there are still slots.

When you folks straighten all this out, I call dibs on skating with The Rev

This is the first Ive seen of this roster and like whoa! Uh wheres all the dudes that said they were going? Ill be there I mean hell Im teaching a hitting class wednesday, friday and sunday so Im a definate shoein for any scrimmages that are going on. Just let me know what color shirt to bring and Im down. As far as other skaters from PVRD Dr. Spankenstien, bazooka Joe and Davey Jones are definately coming so add them as well to the roster and lets get the wheel rolling since we only have a week or so to finalize this.

Forgive me for being a little upset about this. No, to my knowledge it was not emailed to Rocky directly for a couple reasons, not the least of which being the following:

I can officially shoulder this one -- once the challenge "paperwork" is available, I'll start gathering up the requisite info via e-mail or private message. This is going to be a good year, boys!

Wow, it looks like we'll have no problem getting something together.

Either way, we've got 24 people committing to going. Even if a few drop off here or there, we're set! It looks like I'm going to need a handful of information like RollerCon badge numbers and USARS numbers to get this rolling. I'll be hitting up the respective captains/representatives once I know for sure. I'm guessing that they'll be opening up challenge registration pretty soon.

It's going to be off the chain this year, boys!

All of the above would certainly indicate that A: he knew our guys were in and B: this forum was an acceptable way to contact him (since he references PMs on more than one occasion)

I think I have reached the limit to which this issue can be discussed here, but for the record, I am less than thrilled at having to go chase this down at this point in the game.

I understand your frustration, I just don't think it was in any way a personal slight. From that list that you quoted (the one where he listed the PVRD skaters that would be attending), of the 24 people he listed, only 7 are on the game roster. This includes the entirety of PVRD and Puget Sound, as well as most of my own Harm City Homicide.

But I know that, at least in the case of Homicide, the folks that weren't added to the list were people that didn't then follow up with Rocky at some point after the fact. I agree that it's a bit unfair that he specifically said that he would be recruiting for the scrimmage on these boards, and then seemed to abandon them pretty early on. That said, I do feel that we can probably get a few more guys on the roster, so I still say it's worth trying to get in touch with him.

I won't lie. I'm pretty disappointed that most of the guys in the mens derby world who have been most active in establishing mens derby, moving it forward, and are most experienced in public bouts are not going to be able to represent men's derby to the rest of the derby community.

Does this mean that we should set up another scrimmage?
